Yessss! We have finally moved to a house! Anyone who knows me, knows I’ve been waiting a long time! Maybe too long, 15 years’ worth of stuff…it’s not easy! Who knew you could accumulate so much stuff in one place. It has taken us at least a month, (maybe more) to box up and transport all this stuff to a new house. (Even now, we still have a storage building.) It’s worth it though. If you’ve ever lived in an apartment for as long as we have, you know how much your privacy means to you. It’s everything!
We are moving back to where we lived before. We lived in this very same house for 11 years, raised 3 boys there. The house belonged to my husband’s mother. She lived in Black Mountain for 11 years after her husband passed away. She then decided she wanted to move back to Hickory, close to us as she got older, so we moved on. When she passed away last year, we thought long and hard about moving back in. We really didn’t know if we wanted to. I’m so glad we waited and thought it through though. (Now we are sure we want to keep the house in the family.) We bought the house and now it belongs to us. My husband grew up there from age 7, we raised our family there, so we really want to keep it in the family. It’s going to take a lot of work, but I believe it is worth the effort. We want to pass it on to our children and grandchildren one day. It’s a fixer upper. Renovations are going on as I’m writing this.
This gave me pause to think about my next home. I’m talking about my Heavenly Home. You see, even if we move again, which is not really in our future, I still have another move I will be making one day. Only this time, there will be no boxes to pack, no furniture to move, nothing to take with me. Not even this earthly body I’ve lived in for 60+ years. (Yes, I’m getting old) Jesus has promised me a new home, not made with hands. No renovations, no fixer upper. It’s going to be everything I’ve ever wanted, ever dreamed of, in fact Jesus says I can’t even begin to imagine what it will be like! In 1 Corinthians 2:9 it says; “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (NIV)
Doesn’t that sound wonderful? I don’t know about you, but that gets me excited! The best part is, I will be with Jesus!! That’s the most awesome thing I can think of! Not only that, but my father, mother-in-law and father-in-law, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends…I could go on and on, I will see them too. It’s going to be a wonderful reunion! I’m so glad my treasures are in Heaven. Don’t get me wrong, a house here is great, but I’m just on a journey and stopping here for a while, passing through. My real home is in Heaven.
Which brings me to another thought. Have you placed all your treasures in Heaven? Jesus tells us in His Word; Luke 12:33-34 “Sell that ye have and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (NIV)
What are these treasures? These are the souls of our loved ones, our family, our friends, our acquaintances. These treasures last forever! That is the ONLY thing you can send ahead! Souls don’t wear out, break, or get stolen or lost! What are your treasures? Your house, car, clothes, jewelry, status in life, are things, just things. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have something put away for Heaven? Sent on ahead? How can we do this? We need to make certain our family, friends, acquaintances, church family, even those we don’t know are made aware of the way to Heaven. We are appointed to show the way! There are so many false gods and false beliefs that people say are the way to Heaven; in fact I’ve heard people say, there are many ways to Heaven. But what does God’s word say? In Matthew 7:13-14, God says; “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” And God says the only way is through His Son, Jesus. John 14:6, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Don’t you think everyone you know deserves to know this truth? I would hate to think that I was the only way someone had to learn how to go to Heaven and I kept my mouth shut. My life needs to shout, Jesus is the way! My testimony, my witness needs to point others to Christ. This is the sole purpose I have been placed on this earth! Who knows, but maybe you or I are the only Christ, the only Bible that others may ever see? This is God’s will for you and for me! Time on this Earth is so short. In the blink of an eye, your life is over, your time is done. Death is eternal. Your Heavenly Home is where your attention needs to be! If you don’t know how to bring others to Christ, ask God to show you how. Immerse yourself in His Word, place your desires in Him. Let the Holy Spirit show you the work set aside for you!
God speaks of the vain labor and gathering of wealth, knowledge and skills in Ecclesiastes 2:21; “For a person may labor with wisdom, knowledge and skill, and then they must leave all they own to another who has not toiled for it. This too is meaningless and a great misfortune.” (KJV)
But God also speaks of giving wisdom and knowledge:
“To the person who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” (KJV)
He changes times and seasons; he deposes kings and raises up others. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” (KJV)
“Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! (KJV)
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,” (KJV)
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” (KJV)
All you must do is ask! God wants His best for you! God loves you! He wants you to be happy. God loves all, He doesn’t want anyone to go to Hell. In fact, God loves the whole world!
In John 3:16-17 it says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (KJV)
So where are you storing your treasure? Is it here? Is it being sent ahead to Heaven? Remember, there are no U-Hauls in Heaven!
James 4:14 “Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” (NIV)
